Although I will share more details about this wetland later on, for now, I am simply posting a few photos of the Albufera in Valencia. It is a unique natural setting, as it is situated within the municipal boundaries of a major city and its metropolitan area.
This location means that the Albufera—and the forest bordering it—constantly face serious challenges, with ongoing struggles to maintain both their sustainability and accessibility.
The Albufera is an environment of immense biodiversity and a key stopover on bird migration routes; however, it was particularly affected by runoff from the 2024 DANA storm. This, combined with industrial discharges, poses a lethal threat to the species inhabiting the wetland.
